Thomastown capped off a brilliant Northern Football League campaign with a 17.16 (118) to 5.9 (39) win over Reservoir in Saturday’s division 3 grand final. The rampaging Bears did most of the damage early, putting the game out of reach by the main break. While Thomastown tasted premiership success in division 3, Mernda dropped out of contention in division 2, losing the preliminary final to North Heidelberg, 19.14 (128) to 11.7 (73). It was also a disappointing weekend for Tullamarine and Roxburgh Park in the Essendon District Football League, with both sides losing their grand finals.
