The bright and brilliant winners and category finalists of the 2022 Hume Young Leader Awards got together to participate in a leadership workshop in Broadmeadows this week.
Recognising and celebrating the leadership of Hume’s young people aged 12 to 24, the awards program allows young people to continue learning the tools to continue in the leadership space.
Hume mayor Joseph Haweil said he commended the finalists of the awards for their active participation in the workshop.
“Council’s Connect and Thrive Plan affirms our commitment to supporting young people in their development by ensuring access to opportunities, such as this leadership workshop,” Cr Haweil said.
Council said it had a growing population of young people who play a fundamental role in “enriching and shaping the community”.
“The awards program is an important opportunity to formally acknowledge, empower and support the next generation of leaders in Hume,” council said.
