Works to expand the Craigieburn Sport Stadium are under way.
Stage one works will include the construction of three multi-use cours, upgrades to spectator seating, meeting rooms and cafe, with a remodelled entry and reception area.
Hume council has committed $10.45 million to the renovations, while the state government has invested $5 million into stage one as part of its Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
Yuroke MP Ros Spence said these improvements will make getting back to local sport and recreation easier, allowing Victorians to lead more active and healthy lifestyles.
The centre is home to the Craigieburn Basketball Association, Craigieburn Netball Association and Craigieburn Ladies Badminton Club, with over 1,600 participants between them.
Upgrades are scheduled for completion by June 2023 and will create 25 full time jobs while under construction according to the state government.
