Hume Tennis and Community Centre is top three in the state

Hume Tennis and Community Centre in Craigieburn is proud to have been a finalist at the Victorian Tennis Awards for 2021.

As a finalist for the Most Outstanding Club or Centre Award, Hume Tennis and Community Centre was one of three finalists out of over 800 Victorian tennis clubs. The virtual awards night yesterday.

Although the award ended up going to Fawkner Park Tennis Centre in South Yarra, manager and coach at Hume Tennis and Community Centre, Tim Connelly, is immensely proud of his team and community for their achievement in being nominated for the awards.

“Hume Tennis being named as a finalist is a recognition of the work we have done in innovating and adapting to the changing environment over the past 18 months,” Tim says.

“The COVID-safe protocols and programs that we’ve put in place have subsequently seen many new and returning families embrace tennis as a COVID-safe recreation.”

One of the club’s highlights was working with Tennis Australia and the International Tennis Federation to hold two international wheelchair tournaments in February this year. The Melbourne Open and Victorian Open featured 24 of the world’s best wheelchair tennis players including homegrown talent Dylan Alcott.

With 16 full-sized courts, an on-site pro shop with restringing services, three health and wellness treatment suites, three comfortable community rooms, a full cafe and commercial kitchen, showers and other amenities, Hume Tennis and Community Centre is a fully accessible venue with local council support as well as strong family and community values.

Hume Tennis and Community Centre is located at 225 Marathon Boulevard, Craigieburn. For more information, phone 1300 HUME TC (486 382) or visit www.humetennis.com.au.
