New schools get official names

Three new schools in Hume and Whittlesea have been given their official names ahead of their 2022 launches.

The names for the new Victorian government schools were chosen in collaboration with the community and Geographic Names Victoria.

Kalkallo Common Primary School is now Gilgai Plains Primary School, Greenvale Secondary School is now Greenvale Secondary College and Wollert East Primary School is now Wollert Primary School.

Yuroke MP Ros Spence said: “Greenvale has waited a long time for its new secondary school, and I am delighted that a permanent name has been chosen.

“Gilgai Plains Primary School will give Kalkallo students the world-class education they deserve, close to home.”
