Two members of a Hume family have tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to Victoria from Sydney.

COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said the family had been in isolation, as per the conditions of their red zone travel permit, and had tested negative shortly after arriving in Victoria.

Three family members had arrived in the state by plane on Sunday, July 4, and tested negative on Monday, July 5. The fourth member arrived by car on Thursday.

“Two members of the family became symptomatic and got tested yesterday,” Mr Weimar said.

“We received the results [in the] late morning today, [and] they are both positive.

“Both getting tested as soon as they became symptomatic… is exactly the behaviour we want.

“The other two members of the family are being tested again today.”

A Whittlesea family are also in isolation after a removalist crew, one member of which has tested positive for COVID-19, came to their residence on Thursday..

The family has since moved interstate, Mr Weimar said.

The removalist crew member was identified as a primary close contact of a positive COVID-19 case by New South Wales Health on Friday.
