One of Australia’s largest suppliers of food and beverage equipment, GEA, is moving to Melbourne Airport – and bringing about 100 new jobs with it.
The new headquarters, which will consolidate the operations of five existing facilities, are under construction and are expected to be completed late this year.
Hume mayor Carly Moore said a range of employment opportunities would flow from the GEA move.
“It is exciting to see that the new GEA head office will create approximately 100 jobs in Hume, including new positions ranging from management and engineering to clerical, sales and service roles, as well as trade and laboring roles,” she said.
The managing director of GEA Australia, Goran Erdevicki, said the switch to the airport location was an exciting opportunity for the company.
“The move is the final consolidation step to bring all our employees in Melbourne under the one roof,” Mr Erdevicki said.
“What was once a number of separate GEA companies, with four offices and five warehouses, will now finally become one.
“The close proximity to the airport provides benefits for our employees travelling on business, improves efficiency and provides a better service to our customers for our supply chain activities.”
