Hume residents can explore the municipality’s woodlands, waterways and grasslands with the help of a new nature guide.
The free Fauna of Hume guide, which was launched by the council last week, contains images of 61 native species of mammals, frogs and reptiles and includes six of the most common introduced species that can be spotted throughout Hume.
It has been designed as a companion to the Birds of Hume field guide.
Mayor Geoff Porter hopes Fauna of Hume will encourage residents to get outdoors and appreciate the abundance of wildlife and nature in Hume.
“The beautiful images … will help engage and educate our community, assisting residents to bcome proficient at identifying both the native and introduced species they come across.”
