Craigieburn health boost

The state government will put $45,000 towards scoping plans for the Craigieburn health and community precinct. Planning is expected to provide enough evidence to build a ‘one-stop-shop’ for family, youth and children’s health; counselling; aged support services; and alcohol and drug-related services.

Wallan sewerage

Yarra Valley Water has announced the start of construction on the $20 million Wallan sewage treatment plant. The existing plant is nearing capacity and needs to be upgraded to treat the extra sewage coming from new developments. Construction is due to be complete next year. Cash stolen after games

A large amount of cash was stolen from netball courts at the rear of the Broadmeadows Leisure Centre on Saturday, March 28. Police believe the theft occurred after all games had finished for the day. It is believed a 183 centimetre woman in her 40s may be responsible. Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if you have any information about this crime.

Thieves target building sites

Hume crime prevention officer Jacqui Newman says the number of burglaries has increased in Hume. Houses under construction in Craigieburn are increasingly being targeted. Police advise that if you are in the process of building a house, speak to your building company about fitting white goods and hot water services a day or so after you have
taken occupancy. Report suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on

Man charged over online scheme

A 29-year-old Mill Park man is facing 87 charges connected with a fake advertising investment scheme. Police allege the accused convinced a Melbourne pensioner, aged in his 70s, to invest in an online marketing scheme in 2013-14. He will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on May 21. Online scams can be reported to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission via www.scamwatch.gov.au.

Search for no-show defendant

Police are appealing to the public to help find 26-year-old Serkan Sen, who was due to face the Broadmeadows Magistrates Court for burglary and theft charges but failed to appear last Thursday morning. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is known to frequent the Campbellfield, Meadow Heights, Fawkner and Sunshine areas and was last seen driving a Mercedes car stolen from Westmeadows on April 9. The car has New South Wales registration plates with registration details APJ 09K. Serkan Sen is described as 165 centimetres tall, of thin build, with a receding short, dark hairline and of South European appearance. Anyone who sees him is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
