People plant together

River red gums will be planted along the banks of Jones Creek at a community planting day in St Albans this month. Friends of Iramoo will also plant wildflowers in the nearby grasslands on June 19 from 10am until noon. Meet at the reserve opposite 19 Pimelea Terrace. Children under 16 years must be supervised. Bring gardening gloves, water bottle, sturdy shoes, long trousers and sleeves and a hat.

Keilor farewells council

Brimbank council’s last council meeting at Keilor will be held next Tuesday, June 21, 7-10pm. Staff move to the new community and civic centre at Sunshine the next week. All council meetings will be held at Sunshine from July.

Mind work over breakfast

How to apply for grants

Brimbank’s final community grants program information and grant writing session is on at the Visy Cares Hub, Sunshine, next Thursday, June 23, 2.30-5pm. Categories include leadership, family violence prevention and gender equity, lifelong learning, health and environment.

Indigenous health boost

Important health information is available at Sunshine Hospital for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women about breast health, and the importance of regular breast screening. Nan, Aunty, Mum – you are a treasure to our family is a special project that aims to boost indigenous participation in breast screening. Sessions are on July 12, 10.30am–12.30pm, including information, guided tours of the breast screen clinic, lunch and a gift pack of health information.
