Planting a blooming good idea

Melton residents are invited to learn how to best grow vegetable and herb gardens in their backyards at the Bloomdale’s gardening workshop on November 11.

With the help of Bunnings Sunbury, the event will provide gardening coaching at the Bloomdale Land Sales Centre in Diggers Rest, from 11.30am-12.30pm.

A coffee van serving warm drinks and snacks will be at the event. And a sausage sizzle, courtesy of the Diggers Rest Football and Netball club, will also be there.

AVID Property chief executive Cameron Holt said: “The Bloomdale gardening event is a great way for the Diggers Rest community to come together for a fun, educational and interactive afternoon.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming Bloomdale residents and the wider community to participate in the free workshop, while enjoying the refreshments and sausage sizzle hosted by the Diggers Rest Football and Netball Club.”

The AVID property group is holding a gardening competition, where residents can nominate the best garden in Bloomdale and the winner will be announced at the event.

One resident will win a $100 Bunnings gift voucher.

The event falls on Remembrance Day, to recognise this Bunnings will be including poppy seedlings into goodie bags. The local RSL will also be giving poppy pins to guests on arrival.
