Art in Public Places

Hobsons Bay’s month-long celebration of art in public draws to a close on Saturday, September 30. Closing week highlights include Fringe Festival artists Forest
Fringe, a public screening of a documentary about Laverton, an installation about Altona’s coal mining history and an exhibition on Hobsons Bay’s sister city Buloke. Various times, locations and

Seniors events

A series of mostly free events, including Devonshire tea, guided tours, tai chi,
tennis, dancing and birdwatching, will be held from Sunday, October 1 across Hobsons Bay as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival.

School holiday fun

Visit Williamstown’s Commonwealth Reserve for an AFL footy day with
special guests on Thursday, September 28 from 10.30am-12.30pm, followed by
a kite-making workshop from 1.30-3.30pm. In the event of inclement weather, contact the Hobsons Bay Visitor Information Centre on 9932 4310 (9am-5pm) for updates.

Skunk workshops

Hosted by Victoria University’s Skunk Control group, Highpoint shopping centre’s free school holiday workshops include how to make a aoetrope, how to make a thaumatrope, build a colour mixer and spectroscope and build a butterfly automata.
