Police on the hunt for golf club bandits

Police are searching for two robbers, one armed
with a golf club, who targeted petrol stations in Mernda and Epping.

Sergeant Jason
Gaffee said the offenders struck in the early hours of this morning (October 4), threatening staff
at two petrol stations with the club.

He said the offenders, driving a small white
car, hit the Shell service station on Plenty Road, Mernda at 12.30am where the
attendant had closed the shop and was tallying the takings.

‘‘The door was
locked but the offender started hitting the door with the golf club,’’ he
said.

He said the offenders then hit the BP station in Cooper Street, Epping at
1.05am where a staff member was threatened with the club and handed over a small
amount of cash.
