Mill Park police raid nets drugs, cash and weapon

AN eight-month investigation into a suspected heroin ring in the north west has netted drugs, cash and stolen property and resulted in two men facing charges.

Five people were arrested last week during raids by the Mill Park divisional response unit on three houses, in William Street, Lalor, and Joanne Court and Mecklenburg Close in Epping.

Police seized drugs, believed to be heroin, more than $132,000 in cash, around $100,000 in stolen property, and an imitation handgun.

Four men and a 30-year-old Lalor woman were arrested and questioned.

Two men, aged 29 and 57, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The younger man was remanded to reappear in the court on October 23, and the other was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
