Lalor knitters onto record-breaking yarn

A group of Lalor knitters will need a very big book if they succeed in helping to create a four-kilometre knitted bookmark.

The Lalor Library Charity Knitting Group, including members Charmaine Bendall and Helga Pohl, is part of a national team aiming to break a Guinness World Record to mark the National Year of Reading.

The team needs 20,000 bookmarks measuring 21cm x 6cm which will be sewn together to make the longest bookmark in the world. After judging, the bookmark will be unpicked and sewn into blankets for charity.
