Police seize drug haul in Mernda

POLICE raided a house in Mernda last week, seizing cannabis worth $300,000.

The unoccupied house in Riordan Crescent had a hydroponic set-up with 150 plants, said Constable Glenn Kroezen of the Mill Park police divisional response unit.

He said the house had a highly dangerous and illegal electrical connection installed. Police carried out the raid last Wednesday after locals raised suspicions about the house.

Constable Kroezen said residents should take notice of houses where roller shutters on windows were never opened, where people were not seen and cars did not move.

He appealed for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
