Funding win for education

‘This is great news for local children’

TWO local pre-schools and a kindergarten will get almost $1 million in state government funding to upgrade facilities.

The centres will get grants toward self-contained modular buildings to expand services without disrupting existing programs.

■ The South Morang pre-school at Mill Park Lakes will get $300,000 for its $538,000 project.

■ Epping pre-school will a get $300,000 for its $507,600 project.

■ Mernda Villages kindergarten will get $300,000 for its $777,000 project.

Northern Metropolitan Region MLC Craig Ondarchie, and Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development Wendy Lovell announced the grants last week.

“This is great news for local children, not just now, but well into the future,” Mr Ondarchie said.

“As a former kindergarten committee president, I know just how important early childhood infrastructure is to a community.”
