Hundreds remember Anzacs in Epping

ABOUT 1200 people gathered at Epping RSL’s dawn service on Anzac Day last week, undeterred by bitter cold and rain.

World War II veteran Reverend Peter Holloway addressed the crowd as young and old gathered for the service, rugged up in raincoats, carrying umbrellas, wearing poppies and medals and leaving flowers on the shrine.

Ken Jeffries, from Epping RSL, said the attendance was higher than last year, despite the weather, and that the younger generation’s enthusiasm for keeping our war history alive was fuelling larger crowds every year.
