Fairfield TAFE archive centre on historic quest

Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE is searching for memorabilia related to its history to help mark its centenary.

A new Archive Centre at the institute’s Fairfield campus has been established to register, catalogue and preserve items donated or lent to the institution.

Co-ordinator Ann Rizio said material had been flooding in from NMIT staff but the public was likely to have more.

“NMIT has been training people in the northern suburbs for 100 years,” she said.

“There must be hundreds of fascinating items sitting on dusty shelves or at the back of cupboards.”
