Pina Di Donato is Turi Foods marketing director, chairwoman of the philanthropic Turi Trust and member of the Northern Health Foundation Board.
I HAVE lived in Mill Park for the past eight years and I grew up in Lalor and Epping. I went to school at St Peter’s Primary and then on to St Monica’s College, both in Epping.
My brothers and I joined (family firm) Turi Foods at a low point in the company’s history as we felt we could make a valid contribution and help our parents re-establish it. We are very proud of what we have achieved as a family.
I felt very privileged to be invited to join the Northern Health Foundation Board. I didn’t really know what to expect. My only exposure to hospitals had been the birth of my three children and my weekly obsession with Grey’s Anatomy.
I soon realised the hospital had to raise funds and obtain grants for equipment and other essentials. Until then, I had assumed hospitals were automatically equipped with everything they needed.
I enjoy working with different groups in the community. It broadens my horizons and allows me to meet diverse groups.
