South Morang station: A smoother ride beckons

WITH less than two weeks until the South Morang train station opens, residents have been invited to look at the facilities, meet their station master and even take a ride.

Public Transport Victoria chief Ian Dobbs said the gates to the new station would open from 10am to noon on Saturday, April 14 to give residents the chance to get a closer look before full sevices start.

Part of the open day will include a free shuttle train between South Morang and Epping stations.

The launch of regular services from South Morang on April 22 will mark the end of more than a year of work and the project’s last stage, the 3.5 kilometre extension of double tracks from Epping.

The South Morang project aims to improve public transport to a rapidly growing area.

The new station will offer parking for 450 cars, bike cages and an integrated bus interchange.

NW asked commuters how their transport routine would change when the station opened.
