WHO knew tapestry could be so interesting? Northern suburbs comedian Jodie J Hill is doing her best to answer that question during hilarious guided tours of Bundoora Homestead Art Centre’s exhibition About Time: Australian Studio Tapestry 1975-2005. The exhibition explores Australian tapestry from the bold abstract works of the 1970s to the figurative works of the 1980s, as well as more recent works. So why get a comedian to tell us about tapestry?
“My mission is to inject energy, humour and new-found appreciation for this fantastic fibre art. Just like Bert Newton, I understand the importance of a good rug,” she tells NW.
Hill’s “magic carpet ride” tours will take place on Thursday, April 12 and Sunday April 15 at 2.30pm. The tours are free but bookings are essential.
