Fit the kids: Come to a free child restraint fitting day at Westfield Plenty Valley shopping centre on Saturday, March 31, held by the RoadSafe Metropolitan North Eastern Council. Between 10am and 2pm parents can come to the ‘‘parents with prams’’ parking area behind the centre near the food court and get child restraints professionally checked and fitted by qualified fitters. No need for bookings.

Paid to lose: Overweight people in the Bundoora area are being offered more than $2000 in health-related benefits to take part in a weight-loss study. The study will run over 20 weeks at RMIT University’s Bundoora Campus, and is open to 100 overweight, sedentary volunteers aged 35 to 59. Benefits include: consultations with dieticians, free gym membership with sessions supervised by exercise science students, exercise gear and recipe books, with $250 for those who complete the study. Come ride in Whittlesea: Whittlesea Bicycle Users Group will host a bike ride as part of the City of Whittlesea’s Hands On Sustainability program. The ride starts at 10am on April 15 from the car park behind Thomastown Library, 52 Main Street, Thomastown. It will be conducted in two parts, so riders can do a 15km or a 30km ride.
