Lady protests too much for Guy

A WHEELCHAIR-bound woman is keeping a daily vigil at the office of Planning Minister Matthew Guy to appeal for his help in a building dispute.

Lana Zaitsen has been protesting at the Rosanna office for three weeks in her bid to win a meeting with Mr Guy.

Ms Zaitsen and her husband Boris claim they fell out with their builder over the construction of their $2 million, two-storey townhouse in Caulfield North.

She says the Victorian Building Commission and Mr Guy should step in to assist in the completion of the house.

Ms Zaitsen, who is suffering from liver failure, says she and a group of supporters sat in the foyer for the first week of their protest in early March, and were subsequently forced out of the office by staff. Since then they have camped outside for about five hours a day, urging passersby to sign a petition.

A spokesman for Mr Guy, Nick McGowan, said the case was before the Building Practitioners Board, and Mr Guy had been advised not to comment. “His department has extended every assistance possible to the Zaitsens and will continue to do so,” he said.
