Friends and colleagues of former Whittlesea councillor Nicola Davis donned lycra and pedalled their way to Mernda in memory of the 35-year-old mother and cycling enthusiast, who passed away almost a year ago. The commemorative bike ride set off from Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre. Ms Davis died on April 15 last year after a short battle with cancer. She was born in the United Kingdom and grew up in South Africa before moving to Australia with her husband, Paul, in 2005. She left behind two daughters, Sienna and Tabatha. Whittlesea councillor Rex Griffin said Ms Davis had been sorely missed. “She did so much for the community in such a short time,” he said. … Lexi Cottee
