Bowls Victoria Metropolitan Pennant: Craigieburn in a canter

Craigieburn’s hopes of finishing in the top two of Bowls Victoria Metropolitan Pennant division 2, section 2 have received a boost with a comprehensive win over top side Broadmeadows.

Sitting third entering round 13, Craigieburn didn’t let Broadmeadows get into the game at all, winning all four rinks with ease for a 18-92 to 0-55 scoreline.

The win moves Craigieburn to second on the ladder, with Broadmeadows slipping to third.

In the premier division, Bundoora RSL cemented its spot in the top four with a win over MCC Kew Sports.

Three of the four rinks were close affairs, giving RSL one- and two-shot wins and a draw.

The fourth rink proved to be the difference, with RSL winning 29-10 for a match win of 17-95 to 1-73.

RSL remains third on the ladder.

Its second team is also third after 13 rounds, following a win against Ferntree Gully in division 1, section 1. RSL (2) won the match 16-89 to 62-2.

Whittlesea had a lot closer battle against Keysborough, with one shot separating the two teams.

Despite winning only one of the rinks, Whittlesea won the shots 77-76 for a 12-6 win.

Whittlesea is seventh on the ladder, 15 points behind the fourth-placed Croydon.
