Water babies flocked to Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre over summer.
According to Whittlesea council figures, almost 40,000 residents visited the Main Street pool between December 1 and January 12, with members and those enrolled in swimming classes accounting for more than 62 per cent of visits.
Centre manager Gareth Dowell said it had been a typical start to the year, and he put the pool’s popularity down to its size and relatively new facilities.
“It’s the largest pool in the municipality and it’s perhaps more family-friendly,” he said.
In the same period, more than 5500 people went swimming at Mill Park Leisure Centre and just over 4000 visited Whittlesea Swim Centre.
