Bethal Primary School last year began a music program for its refugee and migrant pupils.
A grant from the Two Friends Foundation enabled the Meadow Heights school to offer guitar, violin, piano or percussion lessons to 20 pupils in grade 3/4 and grade 5/6.
The program proved so popular is was expanded this year to accommodate all pupils eager to play a musical instrument.
Program co-ordinator Danielle Pumo said that for most pupils, music classes were their favourite time of the week.
The school’s inaugural concert will be held on December 10 and will feature individual performances and ensembles. “Before you know it, it will be like the school of rock,” Ms Pumo said.
