Gruelling training sessions have become the norm for a group of Whittlesea Secondary College students who will compete in the Great Victorian Bike Ride next month.
The cyclists Ryan Johnson, Gabbie Mathison, Cade Walters, Edward O’Hara, teacher Madeleine Prior, Ayden Bellman, Bailey Dennehy, and Kassandra Mathison, along with two parents and two staff members, will ride 500 kilometres from Albury to Lilydale in the first week of December.
The students’ training regime began six months ago. In the meantime, they have been encouraging Whittlesea residents to support their challenge.
The Lions Club of Whittlesea has been particularly generous, sponsoring the team and buying riding jerseys for each member.
