Take the time to smell the roses, literally, this weekend when the Tibetan Buddhist Society’s gardens open to the public.
The society’s resident gardening expert, Tim McKibben, says the salvias are coming into full bloom and this season’s roses are especially lush.
Throughout the year a team of volunteer gardeners has organised regular working bees to landscape the gardens and source new plants.
Tibetan Buddhist Society founder, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, created the gardens in a gesture of gratitude to the Australian people who offered him support and shelter when he first arrived in the country from Tibet.
There will be a Devonshire tea, garden tours, free meditation sessions and a second-hand bookstall set up during the weekend.
The rose gardens at Tibetan Buddhist Society, 1425 Mickleham Road (access via Cookes Road), Yuroke, are open from 10am-4pm on the weekend of November 29-30.
