Violence against women: Hume council makes its message clear

Retired racehorses and air travellers will have no doubt about Hume council’s commitment to preventing violence against women.

In recent weeks, council staff have painted a gigantic, 3000-square-metre sign spelling out ‘Violence against women – Hume says no’ at Living Legends, a home for retired racehorses at Greenvale.

The sign will be visible to passengers flying in and out of Melbourne, and was installed in time for White Ribbon Day on November 25 – the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women.

A White Ribbon event, with food and entertainment, will be at Broadmeadows Town Park, Pearcedale Parade, Broadmeadows, on November 25 from noon to 1.30pm.
