Fanfares, glitter, fake tan and pom-poms will fill the Gold Coast Convention Centre later this month as thousands of competitors converge for the Australian All Stars Cheerleading Federation national titles.
About 170 men and women from the Tullamarine-based Cheer Factor All Stars will head north for Australia’s largest cheerleading competition to perform a two-and-a-half-minute routine of high-energy tumbling, dancing and stunting.
Head coach and director Sonia Roarty says the event closely resembles Hollywood flick Bring It On.
“There’s plenty of sparkles, glitter, big hair, and it’s loud and exciting,” she said.
