A new jobs portal has been developed to link jobseekers to employment opportunities at Melbourne Airport.
The Melbourne Airport Joblink site, developed jointly by Hume council and the Education Department, was launched last week.
The site collates job advertisements from employment websites, such as seek.com.au, and from local organisations and businesses operating at the airport and in surrounding suburbs.
Melbourne Airport chief executive Chris Woodruff said the job portal was designed to make searching for local work easier.
He said the airport supported almost 10,000 jobs within its complex and the communities around it.
“There are more than 200 businesses operating from the airport, with roles ranging from project management and nursing to cabinet-making and catering.
Now, jobseekers can go to the one website and look at all the opportunities in our local area,” Mr Woodruff said.
Broadmeadows MP Frank McGuire said the website would create better opportunities, especially for young people, “given that unemployment in Broadmeadows is now officially at
26.4 per cent, which is worse than Spain and equal to Greece”.
Joblink is free for jobseekers and employers. More details are at www.melbourneairportjoblink.com.au
