Bundoora RSL took all 18 points in gaining its first win of the Bowls Victoria Metropolitan pennant season on Saturday.
It was a dominant display by RSL, which beat Mentone 97-58 at Bundoora in premier division.
The RSL won all four rinks, with a winning margin of five shots or greater in each.
After losing to Essendon in the opening round, RSL now sits third on the ladder.
Its second side also had a good day in division 1, section 1, beating Whittlesea 90-67 and taking all 18 points on offer.
But the club’s third, fourth, fifth and six sides weren’t so lucky, all losing.
It was a bad day all round for Lalor, with its top side, Lalor (2), losing 82-76 at home against Melton.
Melton won all four rinks, claiming the full 18 points.
Lalor (1) lost 98-65 and 18-0 against Yarraville Footscray and the club’s lower sides also had no luck, with three, four and five also going down.
Broadmeadows’ match against Fitzroy Victoria went down to the wire in division 2, section 2, with a 75-75 tie on shots.
Fitzroy Victoria got the win with 10 points, to Broadmeadows’ eight.
But Broadmeadows (2) had a good day, getting all 18 points against Buckley Park after winning the shots 131-59.
In division 3, section 2, Craigieburn (2) put in one of the most dominant performances across the whole competition, taking all 18 points from its match against Moonee Ponds (3) with a 120-44 win.
In division 4, section 2 Gladstone Park beat West Coburg 90-71 at home and took 15 points to the visitors’ three.
In division 5, section three, Fawkner got its first win of the season, beating Ivanhoe 87-72 and 14-4.
