Australian star Katrina Hibbert to coach Hume City Lady Broncos

Former Australian player Katrina Hibbert is the new coach of Hume City Lady Broncos in the women’s state basketball championship.

Hibbert, who played in the club’s 2013 premiership, takes over from Warren Taylor who has stood down because of family and work commitments.

On Saturday night, Taylor was named state championship coach of the year for coaching the side to its second successive premiership.

Club president Peter Jackson said having Hibbert as coach would benefit the whole league.

“To have someone of the calibre of Katrina Hibbert, who has been a key part of those championships and is familiar with our strong club culture, agree to lead the team next year, is fantastic, not only for us, but for the Big V,” he said.

Former Melbourne Tigers star Lanard Copeland will coach the Broncos men’s side in the state championship for a second year, with 2014 youth coach Mark Addison as his assistant.

Steve Paslawskyj will be the new coach of the Broncos men’s youth side, while Glen Milner will continue coaching the women’s youth side.

Meanwhile, Whittlesea Pacers have announced that Ross Moll will coach the Pacers’ men’s state championship side and Shannon Bodley will take charge of the women’s division 1 team.

Paul Hughes has been reappointed as coach of the youth league side and Joe Borg is the new coach of the women’s youth side.
