Tylah Choy, 7, prepares for the Moon Festival, which is celebrated by Chinese people around the world when the moon is at its brightest after the mid-August equinox.
The Whittlesea Chinese Association will celebrate the festival at Epping Memorial Hall from 7pm on Sunday with cultural dances and songs, a moon cake-making demonstration, lantern parade, lion dancing and tai chi session.
The festa, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival due to the season in which it falls in the northern hemisphere, has its own special food, including the moon cake, which is sweet, with various fillings and patterns on the surface depicting festival legends.
