Injury-hit Whittlesea United had to use three goalkeepers as they went down 2-0 to North Geelong Warriors in National Premier League 1 on Saturday.
The Ranges lost Dianoush Rasoulzaden- Syesan and Jarrod Hill to injury in the away match to the second-placed Warriors, meaning outfield player Kliment Dimitrieski had to take the gloves for the final 15 minutes.
Ranges had the first real attempt at goal through Dimitrieski, but the Warriors survived the early minutes without conceding before scoring themselves through midfielder Vito Cichello.
Warriors were unlucky not to double the lead before half-time. But Robbie Zadworny made it 2-0 for the Warriors within the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Despite continuing to control the rest of the game, the Warriors couldn’t score a third.
The result leaves the Ranges 13th on the 14-team ladder with a 5-4-13 record and 19 points, nine clear of Brunswick City.
Ranges have the bye this week.
