Four Hume men held over Essendon hotel robbery

Four young men from Hume have been arrested at a Coburg motel following an armed robbery at an Essendon hotel on Wednesday.

Two of the men, both aged 21 and from Broadmeadows, were released pending further inquiries while a 20-year-old from Broadmeadows and a 23-year-old from Roxburgh Park remain in custody.

Armed Crime Squad detectives arrested the four in relation to the Keilor Road robbery, where it was reported two males had entered the hotel armed with firearm and a knife about 1.15am.

The men allegedly made threats towards staff before making off with cash.

Detectives are investigating whether this latest incident is linked to a spate of gaming venue armed robberies in the northern and western suburbs.

No one was injured during Wednesday’s incident and investigations continue.
