Question the candidates

Friday is the deadline to register if you want to ask questions of Yan Yean’s state election candidates at a Women and Communities forum at Plenty Valley Arts and Convention Centre, South Morang, from 8-10am on August 28. The seat is one of the most marginal in the state. MP Danielle Green, the shadow minister for health promotion, women and prevention of family violence, will represent the Labor Party, while Sam Ozturk will speak for the Liberals and Daniel Sacchero for the Australian Greens. Kids found on passenger’s lap

A 27-year-old Broadmeadows man has been caught driving with three unrestrained infants in his van. Dog squad officers were doing routine checks on Camp Road when they pulled over a grey transit van about 10pm. Three young children were unrestrained on the lap of the front-seat passenger. The driver was given three infringement notices, one for each child.

Teen loses mum’s car for month

A Roxburgh Park teenager has had his mother’s car impounded for 30 days after being caught doing 160km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Hume Highway near Craigieburn on Saturday night. The 18-year-old had his nine-day-old licence suspended and incurred towing costs of $718. He was expected to be charged on summons for speed and traffic-related offences.
