Plenty Valley Community Health chief Phillip Bain calls for funding

A familiar face has returned to head Plenty Valley Community Health.

Phillip Bain took up his post as chief executive earlier this month, returning to Melbourne’s north after nearly three years as chief executive of Goulburn Valley Medicare Local in Shepparton.

Mr Bain previously ran the Northern Division of General Practice, working with GPs in Whittlesea and Darebin, and has a long history of involvement with community affairs in the north.

PVCH chairwoman Marcia O’Neill said Mr Bain would be a powerful advocate for improved health care.

Mr Bain said population growth and an unpredictable environment for health services presented major challenges.

“We need additional investment in primary care, buildings and health programs at the very time that governments will be looking to cut back on funding,” he said.
