Craigieburn man charged over possessing firearm, drugs

Police arrested a 23-year-old Craigieburn man on Saturday night after a firearm was allegedly found in his car at Thomastown. 

Officers had pulled the man’s vehicle over during a routine intercept on Megan Close about 11pm. 

When they searched the car they allegedly located a loaded shotgun under the rear seat along with a quantity of drugs and ammunition. 

The man has been charged for failing to hold a firearms licence, possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing a controlled weapon and possessing a drug of dependence. 

He has been bailed to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on December 13.
