Thomastown West pupils in step for fitness, funds

Children from Thomastown West Primary are putting their best foot forward to raise money for upgrades at the school.

More than 350 pupils will take part in an adidas fun run this Friday.

Children will do laps of the school’s 600-metre oval for 90 minutes, securing money from sponsors for every lap completed.

School social worker Tim Brown says it’s the third time the school has taken part in the fund-raising event.

Proceeds will go towards the addition of new shaded areas and repairs to a run-down rotunda.

“It’s a special kind of fund-raiser in that it allows the children to take ownership of their own education and raise vital funds that will go directly to improving the space they learn in,” Mr Brown said.

“It also encourages them to remain active and healthy, and the kids love being a part of it with their friends.”

The school hopes to raise more than $7000. To donate, visit www.thomwestps.vic.edu.au
