Sunbury’s SES unit is hunting for new volunteers who want to help keep the community safe.
Spokesman Jarrod Bell urged residents to step up and join the crew.
“If you are interested in volunteering, this is a brilliant way of participating and helping the community,” he said.
Mr Bell said people were often worried that they didn’t have the time or necessary skills. But he said the SES was an inclusive service that welcomed people of all ages and backgrounds.
“We provide everything from training to equipment,’’ he said.
‘‘All you need to do is give us your time. Anyone with an interest in becoming more involved with the community is more than welcome.”
Mr Bell said the unit’s long-term goal was to double the number of volunteers to better meet the needs of the growing community.
“We’ve got a really good, tight crew in Sunbury who do a brilliant job day-in and day-out, but Sunbury is growing and changing.”
All SES volunteers receive accredited training. An information night will be held at unit’s headquarters in McDougall Road, Sunbury from 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 28.
