OFF AND RUNNING

Start training now for the Northern Health community fun run. The 4-kilometre run/walk or 8-kilometre run caters for people of all ages and fitness levels. Participants can enjoy live performances, stalls and family-friendly activities after the run, which is sponsored by Whittlesea council, Whittlesea YMCA, the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service and McDonald’s. The run is on Sunday, April 27, 9am-noon, at Mill Park Leisure, 33 Morang Drive, Mill Park. It’s free.

A NEW COLLECTION

Presented by Yarra Plenty Regional Library, Arabic Night celebrates Arabic culture with an evening of entertainment to launch the new collection of Arabic language books, CDs and DVDs at Thomastown library. On Thursday, April 24, from 6-7.30pm, at 52 Main Road, Thomastown. Free.

DON’T GAMBLE YOUR LIFE AWAY

WALKING AND TALKING

Hume residents are invited to take part in a series of Walk’n’Talk meetings with mayor Casey Nunn. The meetings give residents an opportunity to raise local issues, ask questions and provide feedback about the council. Next meeting

CELEBRATE DIFFERENCES

As part of Diversity Week and Harmony Day, primary school pupils in Broadmeadows and Aileu District in Timor Leste have created works for a My School/My Family exhibition. The pupils at Meadows Primary School and the Malere Primary School in Aileu created works that show the many things they have in common, as well as some of their cultural differences.

The exhibition has been prepared by the Friends of Aileu, a project supported by Hume and Moreland councils. Opens Thursday at 5pm, Hume Global Learning Centre, Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows. Free.
