Fawkner hotel car park assault leaves woman fighting for life

A woman has been gravely injured during a weekend assault in a hotel car park in Melbourne’s north.

It is understood the 63-year-old Fawkner woman was hurt during a fight with another person, which occurred in the rear car park of a hotel on Sydney Road, Fawkner, about 9pm on Saturday.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bentley said paramedics found the woman in cardiac arrest before taking her to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

She remains in a critical condition.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Belle Nolan said officers had spoken to several witnesses but believe there were other people in the area who could shed more light on the attack.

On Sunday, police arrested a 29-year-old Fawkner woman, who is currently helping police with their inquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
