There were 806 auctions during the weekend of March 1 and 2, but just one in Wollert.
The house, named Renee II and built by AJ Jennings in partnership with the Steve Waugh Foundation, sold under the hammer for $447,000 in front of more than 100 onlookers.
All profits from its sale will go to the foundation, which funds and provides treatment, medication and equipment for children living with rare diseases. Janet Dejong, a Bulleen resident for more than 55 years, is the proud new owner of the house in Subiaco Road. Its advertised sale price was between $400,000 and $450,000.
Three keen parties took part in the bidding.
The house has been named after foundation ambassador Renee Eliades. The 21-year-old lives with geleophysic dysplasia and requires oxygen through a tube – apparatus provided by the foundation – 24 hours a day.
