Lalor will meet Yarra Glen this Saturday for the right to play off in the Bowls Victoria division one grand final on March 15.
A nine-shot win over Moonee Valley in the division one section two final kept Lalor’s title hopes alive.
The win of the Lalor-Yarra Glen semi final will meet the winner of the Kew Heights-Burden Park clash in the divisional grand final.
Earlier, Lalor had won through to the division one section two final by beating Glenroy.
Lalor, which finished on top of the ladder, had little trouble casting aside Glenroy, winning by three rinks and 22 shots, 84 to 62.
In-form skipper Carla Odgers led her rink to a 23-15 win, Wayne Hutson prevailed 23-12 and Craig McCarron won 22-16. Matt Lucas’ rink went down 16-19.
Speaking on Saturday night before the sectional final against Moonee Valley, Lucas said Lalor was bowling well enough to take the divisional title.
“We bowled well, particularly given we’d played against Glenroy in the last round and they beat us at home,” Lucas said.
“It was a pretty tight affair, it was only about 10 shots difference for most of the game.
“Then McCarron put a bit of a break on in his rink which spurred us on and gave us about a 20-shot buffer that we were able to hold onto.”
Lucas said more consistency across the 16 players had helped them across the line against Glenroy.
“Last week we really only had five or six players who played a satisfactory game,” he said. “This we week we were confident we could improve on that and have 12, 13, 14 players playing well so that we could get a satisfactory job done.
“We only had one rink beaten and we were more consistent across the board. There were probably only three or four players who had a below-par game.”
In other sectional finals, Lalor’s second side won 83-72 against Glenroy’s seconds, Craigieburn suffered a heartbreaking one-shot loss to Hurstbridge, Whittlesea defeated Heidelberg Golf by 41 shots, while Bundoora RSL’s second side lost by 17 shots to Werribee.
