Whittlesea workout to take on Guinness World Record

Wanted: 2100 lycra lovers for a workout class to bust the Guinness World Records benchmark by bringing the “world’s largest training circuit” title to Whittlesea.

Channel 7’s Coxy’s Big Break presenter Lee Chan, a former My Kitchen Rules runner-up, will MC the world record attempt with Melbourne Storm players joining in.

Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre (TRAC) trainers will motivate the masses with a 30-minute workout.

The record-breaking attempt is part of Healthy Together Whittlesea’s campaign to put more activity in everyone’s day, and there’s a 12-month TRAC membership, valued at more than $1000, up for grabs for one participant.

Email healthytogether@whittlesea.vic.gov.au to pre-register or go to http://bit.ly/1kdX9PS for more information.

The attempt is part of Whittlesea’s annual community festival, scheduled for March 16 at the Barry Road public gardens at Lalor. Australian all-girl rock band Stonefield will headline the music line-up from 12.30pm.

Break dance crew Wickid Force will showcase their skills, and Wild Action will bring the zoo to the park, giving people a chance to touch and hold animals. Sustainability lane will showcase environmentally friendly products and services, while the council’s cultural heritage team has planned more than 30 performances and displays showcasing Whittlesea’s heritage. And for the finale … fireworks will be at 9pm.
