NWMCA: Gladstone Park set its sights on upset

Gladstone Park will walk to the crease eyeing an upset in the North West Metro Cricket Association’s George Luscombe Shield on his Saturday.

Skipper Matt Nyhus sent in second-ranked Kealba-Green Gully on the first day on Saturday and his decision was vindicated when Kealba was dismissed for 143.

Opener Andrew Lambropolous played a lone hand of 46 as Kealba crumbled.

At 7/83 Kealba was facing the possibility of losing first-innings points on day one before late runs from Jarrod Catania (32), Tristan Krizanic (16) and Danny Viani (12) pushed into triple figures.

Gladstone Park faced 21 overs before stumps and will resume this Saturday at 1/40.

Meanwhile, top side Pascoe Vale Central is in strife against Sydenham-Hillside, after being bowled out for 111. Sydenham reached 2/-57 at stumps.

Clarkefield also struggled with the bat, bowled out for 118 against Strathmore Heights. But they hit back with the ball to reduce Strathmore Heights to 6-87 by stumps.
