Premier Cricket: Greenvale splits its Twenty20 games

A last-over six from Carl Sandri allowed Greenvale to split its Twenty20 Bush Bash with one win and one loss in Victorian Premier Cricket on Saturday.

The Kangaroos played two games at bowler-friendly Eastern Oval in Ballarat, losing to St Kilda and beating Dandenong.

Scoring was well under a run a ball in the St Kilda match as Greenvale struggled to 9-105 batting first, only Ramneet Dhindsa (24) passing 20.

St Kilda kept wickets in hand but still cut it fine in the chase, winning on the penultimate ball as Graeme Rummans (39no) and Matthew Chasemore (30) steered the Saints to 2-106.

Batting had barely improved by the afternoon as Dandenong could manage only 7-112 batting first, with Greenvale’s Dominic Reed taking 3-15 as best of the bowlers.

Greenvale was 2-95 in its chase before a 3-10 collapse removed top scorer Eric Ghasperidis (41). But a big six off the second ball of the last over from Carl Sandri (8no) got Greenvale to 5-115 and victory.

Twenty20 action returns to the suburbs this weekend with Greenvale Reserve hosting Essendon and Camberwell Magpies.

Greenvale plays Camberwell Magpies at 9.30am, followed by Essendon versus Greenvale at 1pm and Camberwell versus Essendon at 4.30pm.
